Comercialization of Classics
Today I was listening to the radio on my way home from a friend's house and what do I hear but Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire being totally obliterated. A company would have to sink pretty low to play a classic song on an insurance commercial. Johnny Cash sings with soul and passion, and this one commercial turned that soul and passion into a way to boost sales. They literally changed the lyrics to be singing about insurance. Good-bye respect for the classics-Hello cheap affordable insurance.

Yea, that made me cry a little bit
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny but really sad is the first time they used Ring of Fire in a commercial it was for hemorrhoid cream.
ReplyDeleteOh god. That is really terrible. I hope never get well known. I really don't want to be in a hemorrhoid cream commercial.
